The Giver has things to say that cannot be said too often, and I hope there will be many, many young people who will be willing to listen. With two children in the car, subtle and less graphic was an obvious benefit.
Multiple paragraphs are organized by topics. Some were graphic and shocking in their descriptions of the horrendous acts that took place. The audio was fabulous as well. After the decision is finalized, Seer asks Matty to travel through Forest to a neighboring community. Could it have taken place in a different era and retained the same impact?.
